My mechanic with smile on his face after hearing the "fix" says it is frozen oil rings- a common problem. My 1991 Honda accord used a lot of oil too but the cars are very reliable and I find them easy to work on. Since then I have smelled oil burning ( not exhaust like on the engine block ) Then today the Check engine light, won''t rev over 4K rpm, and now the oil pressure is flashing. The only true fix I have read for this is to have your engine taken apart by a professional and have them replace the oil control rings, which were apparently of poor quality or not installed properly from the factory which is why it burns oil.
